Frassman Brilliant at 93.7

Introduction

On the 31st of May, Frassman Brilliant entered the world, born Nicoy Salmon in Kingston, Jamaica.  He spent many of his early years in Rock Hall, St. Andrew, Jamaica.  He then moved with his parents to live in Waltham Park, Kingston-13.

Football or Dancehall

The now lanky six-footer is an avid footballer.  He played in many competitions throughout his school years. However, he began his reggae music career in preparatory school while attending Kingston’s Calvery Prep. It was there he showcased his talent at every major event and festival.  Though early success wasn’t easy as he was torn between being a soccer star and an entertainer.

While rising to the top of the soccer league, Fassman’s older brother Delon Reid was making his mark as one of Jamaica’s hottest producers on the dancehall scene.  His brother worked with the renowned Manatee Records.

Breakthrough: Specials to Festivals

Frassman Brilliant is no newcomer to the reggae and dancehall industry.  Like most reggae/dancehall artists, Frassman eventually got his break making Dubplates for the sound systems.  Soon sounds would eagerly play his “specials” around the world. His rise in the dancehall community was further pushed by rave performances on the “Sting Reggae Festival” (2001).  Which is billed as the most premier reggae festival in the world.

He was also chosen as the youngest Dancehall artist on the “Sting Reggae Festival” (2002) in Miami, where he received rave reviews.  Furthermore, he quieted a restless crowd during the “Sum Fest Reggae Concert” (2002) in Jamaica.

Ruling His Destiny

Early success led to big releases.  The song “Bling Bling” was backed by the Virus Riddim.  Extremely popular production that also featured many artists including Mr. Vegas and Capleton.  His follow-up single “Zoom Zoom” on the G-Spot Riddim was a chart breaker in Kingston (2002) and he was quickly proving that he was the upcoming star everyone had expected.  Building to his ready solid reputation at the “Boom Blast Concert” (2002) in Jamaica.

As a result, Frassman Brilliant performed on the “Fire-2000 Reggae Tour.”   This tour was also featuring the legendary Sanchez, Capleton, and Bounty Killa.
