Pressure Busspipe Heights of Greatness Review | Upsetta Reggae Review 2021

Pressure Busspipe | Reggae Review by JJ Dante

Pressure Busspipe delivers a strong album with the quintessential island tropes that the good fight is still as relevant as ever. With this latest album he firmly cements himself as a brilliant lyricist carrying on the positivity and drive to shed light on corruption, poverty and inequality.

Greatness Reached in Heights

The project starts strong with “Everything I Need”. His message is driven home with a strong delivery and vibrant chorus. The energy is right on this one and it sets the pace for the rest of the project. If you’ve grown up with reggae music then this album is sure to keep the firing burning for your love of the music and culture. PB’s vocals are strong throughout and from the engineering to the production, it was put together very well.
Pressure Heights of Greatness Review | Upsetta Reggae ReviewThe fourth track titled “No Man is an Island” really caught my ears as it’s got a really catchy riddim to it. The hook hits and it pulls you right in with this classic message.  We are not an island to ourselves and that we need to work, live and fight for rights together.
Following this song is a tune called “Blaze” which carries the torch of righteousness, or lack thereof. The lyrics are very relevant in these times as he speaks of the black race being eradicated. His delivery and energy on the hook “Blaze!” reminds us of the great Capleton as he drives home the lyrics.
As we move along into the project the next one to grab my ears is Track 13. A smooth love song aptly titled “True Love” that’s chorus might be the catchiest on the whole album. You can hear people singing along to this one as the vibe sits just right in the pocket.

Review Summary

Pressure Busspipe is clearly far from done in showing you his great talents, whether it be with the pen or his pipes. I do feel the album is a bit long clocking in at 15 songs.  Although, there are a couple points in the journey that his star isn’t shining quite as bright as it is on other songs. If the production and song writing continues to be this strong on his future projects, then I’m sure he will bring us some more instant classics as he did with this project.

Standout songs:

“Everything I Need”
“No Man is an Island”
“Blaze”
“It’s Been a Long Time”
“True Love”
