The Emergence

He emerged from the parish of Clarendon in a small community called Crofts Hill located in the countryside of Jamaica. Kezz-I is the only boy for both his parents amongst five other siblings. He attended the Edwin Allen High School where accomplished great passes in his CXCs. Kezz-I was destined to be in music and at the early age of twelve years old he started to sing in the church choir and later performed at annual school fairs. His mother, a gifted singer in her own right, taught him everything that she knew, to help him build on his talent.

His artistic techniques are his vocals and his strong songwriting skills. He uses music as a way of expressing his thoughts and feelings. He sees music as the perfect medium for him to communicate with people. Kezz-I’s goal is to awaken the masses and educate people through his music while expressing his feelings and deep emotions that everyone can relate to.

Molasses

Kezz-I uses the molasses approach, which he describes as slow but sure. It is of great depth, soul, and brings meaning to life. ‘It is unforgettably memorable,’ like the taste of your grandmother’s potato pudding. When you hear molasses, you think of substance, so raw and so pure. It leaves a remnant stain in the hearts and mind of people. A stain you don’t want to get rid of. It adds value and worth to your Kezz I Reggaebeing and overall consciousness. It shines and it sparkles, you can see your true reflection in it. It slowly creeps into your soul and takes up a permanent residence, it cleanses, it purifies, it redeems, it elevates and energizes. It gives you an identity you never knew you had. As it slowly pours out, it awakens great anticipation and mysticism. It teaches you to be patient and optimistic. The molasses approach is his way, his trod, his life and his music. Kezz-I brings to you, molasses music, lasting and untainted.

His musical inspiration comes from Peter Tosh, Bob Marley, Marcus Garvey, Garnet Silk, Sizzla Kalonji, Damian Marley, Sam Cooke, Jimmy Hendricks and Jacob Miller.
