The Roots of Dutty Man
On May 31, 2019, infamous reggae crooner, Romain Virgo posted an acoustic version of his unreleased song, “Dutty Man,” on Instagram. A powerful anthem that calls for awareness and action against the child abuse/murder epidemic throttling Jamaica.
“I wanna make her dream come true. Make the link-up,” Virgo posted under the story on THE JA STAR‘s Instagram page.
Tashae Meets Idol in Studio
Rather than a standard meet and greet/photo op, Romain Virgo invited his young admirer to a professional studio/recording session. The two met up at the notorious Big Yard Studio in Jamaica.
“She can really and truly sing. One point, she was quick to learn and willing to try. On the original track, the key is pretty low for her. But to see how much she was trying to sing what we told her. I can see her being a very good singer in the future,” Virgo told THE JA STAR.
In addition to her obvious talents, the singer is impressed with Tashae’s attitude as well.
“She was very punctual. She was there half an hour before the session started. It was my first time meeting her. She smiled so bright. It gave the session a good start,” he said.
However, this was just the beginning for Tashae!
Tashae Blessed the Sumfest Stage with Idol, Romain Virgo
Her dream was to perform with her Idol on stage. The international superstar made sure that dream would come true! His camp advised Tashae and her family, that he would call her on stage during his Reggae Sumfest 2019 performance. The young star was beyond excited.
“I was overwhelmed, I really don’t know how to explain it, and my mommy prayed for me before I went on,” Tashae said.
As it turns out, Tashae’s performance of “Dutty Man” with Romain Virgo was the real blessing. Not just for the 10-year-old star, but for the entire Sumfest audience worldwide. The duo performed which many are noting as, ‘the most memorable performance’ of the historic evening.
Dutty Man Release Coming Soon
Upsetta Records x Loud City are preparing to release the highly anticipated anthem, “Dutty Man” soon. The song is the lead single from the forthcoming Upsetta x Loud City collaboration: One of Many Riddim.
The song is releasing within the next month and Team Upsetta recently revealed the official artwork for the song on their Instagram page. The chilling artwork was designed by Daniel Clasquin of the Netherlands and can be seen below.
